Hey guys, my name is Jay Sall and I've been working at Starlight Tattoo since 2000. That is when I started my apprenticeship under Mario. I genuinely love what I do and enjoy doing all different styles of tattooing. I feel every style brings its own challenge. I really enjoy talking with the client to get a better feel of what they are looking for and freehanding the design, which a lot of my work lately has been freehand.
As a younger tattooist I was able to travel and learn from other tattooists around the world and watch how each artist works. It's a great experience and I recommend it to anyone beginning their tattooing career. To this day, I like to watch other artists and learn different techniques to better my skills. I thrive to be better than the day before and enjoy sharing my skills in the art of tattooing.
Thank you for taking the time to check out some of my work.
My interest in painting and drawing began at the age of seven. I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, where I received a BFA in Illustration. I’m also a graduate of the New York Academy of Art, where I acquired a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting. I have worked as an illustrator and exhibit my artwork as a fine artist.
I’ve also been teaching at the university level for the past 12 years and continue to do so on a part-time basis as an Adjunct instructor. With a long history in my artistic development, I found my ultimate purpose in tattooing and continue to develop as a dedicated tattoo artist.
